The trashcan than we have in the kitchen is tall and has a lid on it, but it didn't take Mason long to figure out that he can stand on his hind legs and use his nose to get the lid off. He is a determined little rascal.

I haven't heard from Mason's vet yet (I had sent her an email). But, I took him for a grooming appt on Friday and his groomer said that there is no damage to the skin or hair around that area so that's a good sign. He could be doing it out of bored...

Thanks for your reply. Mason is already two years old and I've heard that vets discourage removing dew claws in adults. I don't know why he's started this bad habit.

Does anyone else's dog do this?

Mason has been chewing on his dew claws. Do I need to be worried about this? He usually does this at night, right before bedtime. Can he hurt himself?

I took him back to the vet on Friday evening and she put him on metrodiazole. I don't remember the dosage, but he's on it for 10 days in addition to the panacur.
