1)I was raised on a horse farm. If horses are misbehaving, they can kill you. So hitting them is 100% acceptable, or you may get very hurt. That is why they sell whips, crops, etc...

What is the strength of the Ivermectin? Is it the 1% formula? If so that is hugely overdosing a small dog. Though it could be a different strength, but yes it sounds like your dog is being overdosed.

That is exactly right. Training is everything. Though some breeds tend to be higher strung than others. Like Arabs and Thoroughbreds. Even when old and well trained, they can be a handful for a young child.

Until Sammy nips some little kid animal control comes and euthanizes him, and you get sued. It can and does happen. It just depends on where you live, but some places don't give dogs a second chance, so if you like your dog, get control of him.

If it were my dog I would open handed slap it. I wouldn't "hurt it" or "abuse it", but some dogs need to get the message and I have ZERO tolerance of biting and nipping-- unless it is a young puppy.

I think a lot of dogs end up in shelte...

Some larger dog breeds mature later. It could be from the bloodlines. Ask her breeder what is the average age that her female puppies have their first heat.

I have a line that unfortunately never has their first heat until 18-30 months ...
