They can die just after a c-section. I guess ask your vet what you are comfortable with. If I have a bitch that is on her last litter, or I don't want to breed again I ALWAYS have them spayed on the table during the c-section.

Yeah, well that is a pretty elitist thing to say. 4-H is SUPPOSED to be children working with their own project animals. Not whose parents can afford the most expensive horse, trainer and tack. It is disgusting in my opinion.
