Well, I think you really should do more research....what do you mean by "good dogs"??? Aren't those in shelters any "good dogs"? Thay are, but unfortunatelly some have a lot of behavioral issues, as well as health issues and are not adoptable, beca...

I have heard from some LR breeders that labs have that problem a lot and that is why a lot of breeders do it by artificial insemination with either fresh or chilled semen, or frozen as well.

I am very sorry for your loss, but I do not understand how you let the dog out alone if you know you have coyoties there? Well, if he bolted the door, why nobody called him and looked for him right away? It takes a while for a coyote to kill a dog....
