Unfortunately this situation happens a lot. Maybe printing up a spay/neuter contract for potential owners would at least help keep the offspring from multiplying as well. Hopefully by the dog having so many pups and having to care for the extra load ...

I agree with trying to look in a rescue.. Many of the dobies placed in rescue have been/or are being trained in the areas of training and socialization before they are adopted out. Many rescues will even help determine age/gender that would be better...

Honestly I have to say that in my experience all breeds are pretty clever in their own way. Come to think of it I've never owned a "dumb" dog; stubborn, dominant, and even humorous are typically the adjectives I would use to describe my crew.
