Can you take your dog with to the shelter for a meet and greet?

If not you might want to chose a neutral location for the first meeting like a local park or something.

The point of a flea/tick preventive is to prevent the critters from staying on the dog. You might still find a tick but mostly likely will fall off the dog after a short period of time.

We have a basset that has a bark of a St. Bernard. Many times when people have come to the door they are looking around trying to find the dog barking. I point at my tiny basset (38 lbs full grown) and they can't believe it.

I agree with the others that this is not a good business to try. Please volunteer at a shelter and see how many pets people drop off on any given day. Some of the dogs are mixed breed as well as purebred.
