I would use medicated shampoo and then try an old "gramma" recipe...Put a little honey in his food. It's good for their coats and helps the fur grow in nicer.

How about a beagle? They can go forever and are not hard to take care of..just a few pets a day,,running and sleeping. Very low maintenance.
