Beagles make great family pets but I recommend a young adult dog (of any breed) in a home with a toddler, rather than a puppy.

I have to agree with MaryJane, the best fence is a traditional fence. A wood or chain link fence will keep the dog on your property and it will also keep the outside world out. It works when the power is out and when someone forgets to put the co...
