Well, peplogic, there's a risk that if a dog wears a collar 24/7, the collar may accidentally get hung up on something when the handler isn't looking and the dog will choke to death.

Speaking of names, what do you think of changing a one-year-old's name? We're about to get a one-year-old dog who, of course, already has a name and are wondering whether it's all right to try[?] to change it. And if you do think it's ok...

That's true, but boxer has a CKC dog (assumed Continental, not Canadian) and neither the UKC nor the AKC will register it.
