I'm with Scout and Mls. I would love to have an old english mastiff. Think hubby would flip a lid if I spent 1000 plus on a dog right now though.

These are all good advice I think. I wanted to add something I read once about hyper dogs or dogs that jump. When you give them attention for that behavior they are getting what they want. They are hyper or jump because they want you to pay attention...

eskie, that's funny about the bugs. I remember when my hubby got our cat, I wasn't too keen on the idea at first, and then he said, "Cat's are great at killing spiders" and that's all I needed to hear. lol

I have never heard of that before. Our cat is an indoor cat. He never goes outside. We have bobcats and mountain lions where I live, I wouldn't want to chance it. Plus when I was younger, the neighbor's cat was always in our yard, driving us nuts. So...
