Since this is a first dog I wold go for an older dog that already has its personality and training and there will be less surprises. A good rescue will work with you to find the right fit.

No,the AKC only allows dogs from registered parents with full registration. That way its not up to debate if the dog is a purebred or not. The papers don't mean the dog is worthy of being bred though.

Lots and lots of research! What breed are you looking at?

I would join a local breed club and go to some local shows or field trials etc etc. See where those people get their dogs,if they are breeding.

I have to admit I know nothing about nkc? But a reputable registry will not give you breeding papers to a dog registered ckc.

The continental kennel club is a fake registry and should not be bred. You never know whats in the lines. They will register anything.

I never neutered my boy because I wanted to wait till he was mature and by then he had a slight reaction coming out of anesthesia to remove a lump so I didn't want to risk it.
