We also keep the crate next to our bed. He doesn't feel alone and I don't feel guilty he's by himself. It works out pretty well.

I think what that person was saying was that it is ridiculous to pay hundreds of dollars for a mixed breed dog with a fancy name, when you can drive to a shelter and rescue a mixed breed dog. I think that person had a valid point and makes sense.

I will sometimes see people using the harness too. I assume it's because that the dogs are very strong. But using a chain as a leash was something I was unfamiliar with.
