Believe it or not, I have. Smaller ones, mind you; not traumatic hernias obtained during whelping. But I've seen smaller ones knit together in puppies under a year old. After that point, they've pretty much closed all that they're going to. :)

It sounds like a very reasonable price to me. The only time I've seen it quoted lower was when the procedure was performed in conjunction with a neutering.

I would like to throw in a suggestion for an addition to your whelping kit.
You should definitely have a set of sterilized very sharp scissors. Surgical scissors work great, if you can find some. Also, try to get some hemostats. ...
