I understand what you are saying. In our neighborhood, we trick or treat at night. The rule is to leave your porch light on if you are participating, if there is no light, we don't bother.

I agree, if your in costume, you can trick or treat. I also pass out little bags of doggie treats for their four legged trick or treaters.

I had to look twice to make sure I was in the right place - lol. It will take some getting use to, but the layout is awesome. I agree with lpn, I like to see who was on.

I had been using the stainless steel at first also. Then I went to a smaller porcealin bowl. Actually, the saucer is a little bit neater. When I give her a gravy type treat food, her ears and beard get messy - saucer or not.
