My dog does this as a submissive thing, be sure that you aren't punishing your dog for being submissive! Sounds like it is to me....

10 hours is a LONG time, could you get someone in to let them out or hire a dog walker to come once a day? You could buy an x-pen that way they have room to move around but not as much freedom.

As someone who runs a rescue I DO find it offensive when breeders say "adopt" as really you aren't, abbylynne tell me are you only "adopting" your pups for the average shelter rate? I have no issue going and buying a dog from a reputable breeder, ...

What I don't really understand is why you don't have a contract in place that he must return the pup back to you. Wouldn't you want to know what's going on with the dog and see for yourself? If this were a dog of my breeding I would want it back ...

Usually digging is a sign of boredom, or lack of exercise. I suggest more physical and mental stimulation as well as not leaving him unattended so that he can't dig..... Filling the holes with poop sometimes helps.

1600.00 for a dobe? WOW I am glad I went to rescue.... You might want to check rescue, getting a pup doesn't guarantee the dogs will get along....

As an adoptive parent it would be my first choice and you are in an area where there are dobes in need. If you are just wanting a pet, why not? I have a gorgeous female who people think is a show dog and I am always happy to tell them she's a res...
