It was in reference to our cat (rather than the dog), but our vet said that DRY food can be trouble for teeth. Apparently the kibble gets ground up into dust and sticks to the teeth worse than wet.

So go figure....

Maybe what you need to do is *channel* your dog's energy in a productive way. Rather than try to shut him/her down, you need to give him/her a job to do. That's where teaching them new things come in.

I was going to suggest the same theme as pwdlover -- emphasize how much WORK having puppies is. pwdlover has firsthand experience, so she can go into detail. I only know about how much work it is based on what she and other breeders post here.

Banning pet shops from selling companion animals is a far cry from banning breeding.

I don't have facts, but I have a hunch this could have been precipitated by PETA, or a group with like minds about the roles of animals.

There were a lot of people who thought that alcohol was so evil that it shouldn't be sold in stores. And they couldn't see a downside to prohibition...
