I kinda like the licking as well and don't want to have her stop either. Bella is an Aussie mix and (in my view) is doing well with her training, but as I have 7 young nieces and she is going to be big I want her training to be spot on - and she is ...

I recently talked to a rep from Bark Busters about working with my dog. He is all about dominance and one of the things he said just struck me. He said that licking is a sign of dominance and you should not allow the dog to do this. I've got to sa...

Bella has gone to the door three times to let me know she needs out. Yeah! I am so psyched. Also when I took her to the dog park and she meet new people she didn't jump on them! She did run from the minidachsund that was like 1/5th her size, but ...

Okay, Bella was doing great with the drop command (though of course she only did it if she knew I had treats in my hand) but I'm now running into a problem with her doing one of two things. Either she drops the ball a litle too soon (like 3 feet fro...

Bella had an allergic reaction to the sutures which caused a lump to appear even though she was fine otherwise. She was put on antibiotics for 2 1/2 weeks and restricted activity for a month (not fun for an aussie mix). The swelling took about a mo...

I adopted an aussie mix in May and my maltipoo is still adjusting (but it is MUCH better). What has helped a lot is that I try to spend at least 30 minutes alone with Cricket (my maltipoo) while Bella is no where close by (usually outside) so that C...

She's already reached sexual maturity (5-6 years for a female hippo) and she apparently visits wild hippos when she's not at the house. Let's just hope the family never moves as that would be incredibly traumatic for her.

Bella seems to get hiccups a lot (or what seems like a lot to me as I've never had a puppy get hiccups more than once a blue moon) and they are big ones. First, is this a sign of something I should be worried about? Second, is there anything I can ...

I'm not a big fan of clicker training (partly because I misplace just about everything and would probably have to buy 20 clickers a month) and prefer voice or hand signal commands. But I guess if I'm using the same word command it would work the sam...

Since Bella is the first dog I have crated (my other dog is placed in the kitchen which has doors to close) I'm worried about when I start work again (teacher out for the summer). Just how long can a dog be crated for?

My original plan wa...
