Hi - yes, parti Schnauzers can be purebred. AKC does register them as parti, just as they do the whites and livers. You cannot show them in conformation classes, but you can in any other AKC classes.

Hi - what color is the hair behind your Schnauzer's ears? I ask because if the hair there is not solid black, then you actually have a S&P, not a B&S and that would be the reason for the color change.
