I breed Dobies and yes, this sounds like either Color Dilute Alopecia or perhaps a thyroid condition. Being a blue, I would think it is CDA. very common in blues and fawns.

Take her temperature. My Dobie bitch was panting after I gave her a pitocin shot, I knew she had not retained anything, she had an infection of unknown origin. Some antibiotics and she's back to normal.

I want to be really gentle about this. A puppy that is kicked away from the mother (especially a runt) is defective and should be euthanised or allowed to die. The mother knows this and that's why she kicks it...
