If are into breeding and want to import or export your dog to/from USA, the dog has to be registered with AKC.

Most countries outside USA are associated with FCI and that means they only recognise AKC pedigrees, not CKC pedigrees.

If the first litter is only 5 months old, isn't that a bit too early to evaluate them and say this bitch should be bred again at all?

Before you even consider a second litter, you need to evaluate the first litter.

If I am importing a dog from another country it can be years of planning ahead.

I see maybe a certain breeders dogs and follows them for years, try to find out everything about their and their relatives health etc.

The Silken Windhounds have had this requirement for several years.
All dogs need to be DNA-profiled before you can register offspring from them.

This way almost the entire breed is profiled, I DNA profile all dogs I breed, regardles...
