I would keep the meals timed and down for a certain amount of time like 20 minutes. After a few days they start to learn that they better eat their food.And they will be hungry for their meals.Some dogs get the idea that the floor is feeding them ...

Science diet is the top brand of food/it supplies the exact amt of nutrients not to much and not to little, for different life stages.Get as much info from your vet (if money is not an issue) don't fool around when it comes to preventative care!!
