I think a lot of this is coming from not nearly enough exercise. the lab or any dog of that size should be getting at least 3 brisk walks of 30 -45 minutes every day.

BC's should not be crated for more than a couple hours at a time. ...

dogs should never be off leash unless in a securely fenced yard. by your own account your dog does not stay with you when off lead. why would you take that chance with your dogs life.
