I was told by someone that when you Spay or neuter your dog their hair or fur grows better ,anyone else know of this

I would like to know what everyone uses for their dog and cat to prevent fleas,ticks and heartworm .
I am using revolution for both ,but the dr says that it does not work on heartworm.what do you think?
