To my sweet Miss Mattie...
Sweet Mattie,
Today we did the hardest thing in the world and put you to sleep. Of course, you were the sweet girl you always have been through the whole thing. We miss you horribly but we know you are with God, running around like you used to love to do. Even though we can't see you anymore, I know you will still be with us, laying in your favorite spot in spirit. My heart is broken and I will always feel like I didn't say goodbye to you enough- that I should have held you longer, kissed you more. You were with us for 15 years and now that you are gone, it feels more like it was 15 minutes.
We were blessed to have you find us that day you showed up in the driveway, looking for food! We will always feel lucky that you chose us and we will miss you always. The house feels so empty without you. I just want you to know that you were the sweetest dog that I ever knew and there will always be a place in my heart for you that no dog could ever fill. We will always love you, my little Miss Mattie girl!!
