Blue Baby

Samawatti was my first ever parakeet. She was a true sweetheart. I only had her for a month and 6 days but in that short time she stole my heart away. I had been going to the pet store every weekend to watch the birds play. There was one bird there, who was a bully to the others and threw a hard peck at an innocent sleeper, right on the nose. when I came back after weeks of observation, to get my parakeet, I peered through the bars at the birds that were lined up on their perch. There were some that were green and some that were white, but most of them were blue. She didn't stand out, but I got this feeling. "This is my bird" my brain said without thinking. The manager came to help us out, and when she took Sami in a net, she started to jsut fly around the glass room, and we had to go catchher. when she finally go hold of her, i looked in her face she started at me, jsut as hard until i noticed a scab on her nose smack-dab in the middle. most people would have chosen another, but that didnt' matter to me, I just thought that love was the key. She learned to fly, and loved to sing (especially to the Vacum and John Mayers!) all the while, her scab healed. she was a happy bird, and showed it. whenever she wanted to fly around she would pace behind the door of her cage, tweeting like mad. then one day, i came home from school and my dad came to me as said " i have bad news" When he had coem hoem the afternoon for lunch he hadn't heard Sami singing, as she usually does. He thought our cat was tormenting her (even though she never has) so he went to shoo her away. btu when he saw her, she was lying dead on the floor of her cage, as though she had just fallen off the perch. i don't know what caused her sudden death. she had been acting totally normal, singing and playing and crawling around, in fact jsut the night before she had been "helping" me with my homework happily chewing on the side of the page when i shooed her off. i will ever forget my beloved blue baby, And i know she's just waiting for me.
