Do not house male Bettas with other Bettas, male or female. We provided an opaque divider that will allow two Bettas to live together without causing stress.Rinse out your Betta home with warm water. If adding substrate, plants and/or decorations rinse them thoroughly and add them to the tank. The substrate should measure no more than 1" from the bottom of the tank.Fill a one-quart container with room temperature water (app. 74 degrees). Add water conditioner according to directions on the packaging. ALL tap water must be conditioned prior to use.Your Betta was housed in a plastic container when you purchased it. Keep the Betta in the plastic container as you prepare it for acclimation. Let the Betta cup and the treated water sit in the same area for at least one hour or until they reach the same temperature. Pour the treated water into your Betta tank assuring that a 2" space is left at the top of the tank. If you fill this too high, your Betta may try to jump out of the tank. The Betta also needs space to breathe. Gently pour your Betta into his new home. Add a VERY small amount of food. Wait a day before feeding again to allow your Betta to become comfortable. It is better to feed your Betta in small amounts 2X per day than in one big chunk. A good guideline is not to feed your Betta more than he can eat in 5 minutes. In smaller environments, such as this, it is recommended to feed your Betta every other day, and clean the tank EVERY week.To clean the tank, place your Betta with a small amount of water from the tank in a clean container. Dump out the remaining water from the Betta tank. Rinse the substrate and decorations with warm water to remove any wastes that have accumulated on them. Repeat steps above for adding your Betta back into his home. This item is not suitable for children. Use care when conducting maintenance. Check water conditions on a regular basis. Inspect product often to ensure that there are no cracks or leaks.
