EcoBio-Block EcoBio-StoneEasy-to-use EcoBio-Block Stones are made from volcanic rocks and cement and contain live beneficial bacteria which live and multiply in the stones. The bacteria begin to propagate upon immersion in fresh or salt water and disperse about every 30 minutes into the aquarium. As the bacteria colonize, they feed on organic waste breaking down the waste into ammonia, then into nitrites and then into nitrates which eventually break down into nitrogen gas through interaction with anaerobic bacteria in the tank, dissipating into the air. This process clarifies cloudy water, eliminating odors and creating a healthy environment for fish. Additionally, the volcanic rock leeches essential calcium and trace minerals back into the water. This process, which is found in nature, reduces the need for maintenance and water changes by continually keeping a sufficient number of bacteria in the tank to create a perfect ecosystem. Great for starting new tanks as it speeds up the nitrogen cycle. Lasts for 1.5 to 2 years.
