Use and Interaction:Initially,Kent Sea Salt contains every trace element and vitamin necessary to sustain marine life. In time, carbon or resin filtration, ozone use, and protein skimmers will begin to remove the important trace minerals and vitamins. Animals and algae will begin to utilize then as well. Water changes with Kent Sea Salt will restore these important nutrients. Kent Marine Coral-Vite will restore vitamins and minerals used up by live corals and other invertebrates; Essential Elements will restore trace minerals removed by carbon, resin, skimming and ozone. Regular calcium and strontium addition is necessary for all reef systems and is recommended. Even when using supplements, regular water changes of 25% or more per month are recommended. No product can remove dissolved organics or other harmful substances as effectively as water changes! If you do large water changes of more than 50% at one time, be sure to mix the salt at least one day ahead of time, stirring with a power head, then aerate and adjust temperature and salinity to be the same as the tank.Directions:Mix Kent Sea Salt thoroughly with the appropriate amount of dechlorinated water. It is preferable to use water prepared by deionization, distillation or reverse osmosis, if possible. This will limit the amount of undesirable minerals which could cause excessive algae growths or other problems.Kent Sea Salt mixed with water can be used immediately, but aerating it overnight is recommended, if possible.Measure specific gravity with a hydrometer. Adjust to 1.020 to 1.025 at 75° F, as desired. To increase salinity, add more Kent Sea Salt, to decrease, add more water.Close bag with zipper and store remainder in a cool dry place to prevent moisture entry.Caution: Not for human consumption.
