For burrowing reptiles, use a terrarium liner before adding particulate bedding to prevent animals from directly contacting the heated glass surface.Place rubber spacers under each corner of the terrarium bottom.Warning: Make sure that the terrarium does not rest directly on the heat mat electrical cord when in useRemove protective paper from adhesive side of heat mat.Place adhesive side of heat mat to outside bottom of glass terrarium.Rub heat mat evenly until it is firmly adhered to the terrarium bottom.Warning: Do not remove the heat mat once it has been attached to the terrariumAdd bedding and/or terrarium liner.Note: Do not use newspaper, paper towels, or other paper products as bedding over the heat mat.Side-Terrarium Mounting: Do not place on top of terrarium background or in contact with plastic frame.Remove protective paper from adhesive side of mat.Place adhesive side of heat mat to outside wall of glass terrariumRub heat mat evenly until it is firmly adhered to the terrarium wall.Warning: Do not remove the heat mat once it has been attached to the terrarium. When the terrarium is in place, make sure there is a minimum 1/2" space between the wall and back side of the mounted heat mat.Warning: Do not place plastic or rubber décor against the inside glass surface directly in front of the heat mat.Terrarium Set-UpDécor items should be placed to allow the reptile to bask and thermo-regulate appropriately. The heat mat should always be sized correctly and positioned on the terrarium so the animal has the option to cool down to prevent over-heating.Always place water dishes away from the area where the heat mat is installed to prevent water from spilling or spraying water on glass where the heat mat is attached.Depending on the reptile species and terrarium size, and additional heat source such as a basking spot bulb may be required. Using a Zilla incandescent or halogen bulb together with Zilla Tropical 25 or Dessert 50 UVB fluorescent bulbs will ensure that the reptile is receiving the proper light and heat required for essential biological functions. Please check with a sales associate for additional help selecting the proper environment and care for your particular species.
