  • In 1904, the world largest Belgian horse was recognized at the St. Louis World's Fair; its name was "Morocco." He stood up to 21.2 hands tall or 7ft 2in and weighed in at 3,360 pounds. According to the Guinness Book of World Record, the horse that currently holds that title is "Priefert's Radar" standing up to 19.3 hands or 6ft 7in and weighing up to 2,400 pounds.


  • This particular breed of horse is especially used in state fairs, such as those hosted by Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio, and even at Disney World in the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. The North American Belgian Championship Show is held in Columbus, Ohio. There is even an event hosted in Toronto Canada that features the breed.


  • In October of 2007, there was a truck accident involving a double decker trailer with 59 Belgian Horses, unfortunately 9 of these horse were lost in the accident and the rest were put up for adoption.


  • In the historical district of Savannah, Georgia, Belgian Horses are used for the carriage service that they provide touring. They currently have five Belgian Horses on hand.


  • Doug Sauter, the Oklahoma City's minor league hockey coach was attending the local fair draft horse expo when he saw a Belgian Horse break free. This spooked the other horses almost causing a stampede; he bit the Belgian horse on the ear to stop it from causing the stampeding. He said that's how you "stymie" a horse, which causes it to lock up and not want to move.


  • Six Belgian mares and one stud colt from Orndorff Farm has been recently sent to South America to start a breed registry and to Japan where draft horse racing has grown into a popular sport.


  • A company in Ashland City, Tennessee specializes in custom making saddles for people weighing 350 pounds and over so they can also take part in horse back riding, but this is only for Belgian Horses.


  • NASCAR Racer Richard Petty is the proud owner of a Belgian Horse.


  • A Belgian Horse farm owned by Chris Schwarck in Mason City, Iowa has many visitors; some include country singer Randy Travis and former Dallas Cowboy Quarterback and Head Coach for the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons Dan Reeves.


  • In the 1995, Disney movie "Tall Tale" Pecos Bill, played by actor Patrick Swayze, rode a Belgian Horse named "WindowMaker."


  • This horse is also a popular horse when it comes to being used in the circus, having a regular role in the past with Ringling Brothers Circus and today with Barnum and Bailey.


  • Like the Busch Beer Company, Coors Beer uses a horse for their advertisements, but where the Busch Beer uses a Clydesdale, the Coors Beer uses a Belgian Horse.


  • The Belgian Horse is the strongest of all the draft horses.


  • In Denver, Colorado at the National Western Stock Show, a team of Belgians weighing 4,800 pounds pulled the massive weight of 17,000 pounds.
