  • The Morab is a product of the cross breeding between the Arabian, sometimes referred to as "the drinker of the wind" and the Morgan horse. To some people it is still a question of whether or not the Morab is an actual breed of horse and not just another version of one of the parents. The breeding of the Arabian and Morgan horse is a careful process so that offspring can receive the best of both parents; beauty, speed, and strength. The Arabian, who is known for its powerful lungs, is one trait that is incorporated into the Morab. The strength and endurance come from the Morgan Horse's side of the genetic gene pool.

  • One horse that can be found at the roots of the Morab Horse is "Gold Dust" a trotting horse well known for his success in the show ring and in front of racehorse fans. He sired over 300 foals, today over 100 Morab horses can be traced back to this horse.

  • In 1857, a well-known horse historian named D.C. Lindsley wrote an essay that mentioned the idea of cross breeding the Morgan and Arabian. It wasn't until the 1920s that the idea of this crossbreeding was mentioned again, by the publisher William Randolph Hearst, he was the one to come up with the term "Morab."

  • The Half Moon Farm, located in Vermont, is a farm that specializes in the breeding, raising, and selling of Morab Horses. It is in fact the only registered Morab Horse breeding farm in all of Vermont and is the largest breeding farm in New England. They sell these strong and enduring horses all over the United States, and have been for well over the likes of a century.

  • Probably one of the most well known Morab horses when it comes to endurance and distance is "Tulip." Tulip completed a number of endurance trails with his owner, Les Carr. All together Tulip and Les Carr withstood an 18,265 mile endurance ride, this made Tulip the highest mileage Morab Horse of all time. He completed this long and strenuous trip as a part of the American Endurance Ride Conference. Tulip racked up these miles over a journey that lasted a period of thirteen years. Tulip was raised in the rough environment of Montana, but didn't buckle under the conditions of his home. He had more than normal strong legs, was quiet when being ridden, but never the less had a slow and smooth trot, which was very pleasing to the Les Carr.

  • The Morab Horse Association and Register like many other horses registrations are dedicated to the preservation and support of this breed of horse. Formed in 1999, it is the only horse registration that provides more a voice to both the people within and outside of the association. The Morab Horse Association and Register want nothing more than the history of Morab to be remembered and the legacy as well to live on.
