Some of you might remember a while back I was saying some people down the street have some chi mixes that they let run loose day and night (literally) and no tags or anything. They chase cars, kids, come to my house and bark if we go outside, etc. I was thinking about calling animal control but never did because I didn't want the dogs picked up, I just wanted the neighbors to be responsible. They even had one that was run over a couple of months ago and I was hoping that would be their wake up call, but it made no difference.
Well, as you know Ariel was spayed yesterday and I took her out front on a leash this afternoon to go to the potty. I didn't want to take her out back because it's been raining and muddy and I didn't want her stitches to get dirty. Well here I was and these two dogs came at her barking like crazy. She got scared and tried to run off (stopped at the end of the leash), her tail was between her legs, and she was crying. I was yelling at these two dogs to get out of my yard and nobody is around to help me. I had to take Ariel inside (no potty) and I was mad. So, I called ac and explained the situation. The lady said someone would go out and talk to them and if they did not take responsibility for their dogs they would be fined. I don't know if it will help or not, but at least they didn't take the dogs to the pound, which is what I was afraid of. I went back out a little while ago and the dogs are not outside. They are ALWAYS out there, so something must have happened. Now I'm worried that I'd better watch my back. I guess it was pretty obvious after I was out there yelling at them right before.
People like that make me so mad.

gina you did the right thing. we dont have a big problem with loose dogs where i am but once in awhile i will find one and take it to the pound. we have a great pound who never puts anything to sleep, so i know if the owners don't look for the dog, the people who run the pound will find it a new home. even though it is a town run pound, the people there are awesome.
Thanks Scout. I was worried, out pound will only keep for 3 days before they pts. If the people care so little about their dogs to let them do that, then I was afraid they wouldn't go get them. Our humane society is a private foundation and a no kill shelter, but they won't pick up, and right now they are full and not accepting drop offs. So sad.
Well good thing you called on them...but it is also good that they are not picking them up. I would have been pissed just like you if I took my baby out and those little turds came rushing over to bark...poor thing...she is probably frightened to go out there again. Is she doing OK?
Edit** do any of you know if Admin is going to add a private message service?

Don't stress on it. If they were that uncaring they would have ignored the AC. At least it got their attention. Years ago I had a similiar situation w/ neighbor's dogs chasing feral cats on my porch and waking me up EVERY morn w/ the barking and running around thumping against walls etc. When AC talked to them they said it was my fault that their dogs came over because I had the cats out there(?) They ignored AC and were apparently "helpless" to control the dog until I, less helpless, captured the beast and was waiting for AC to come get it. Tied to my porch. Their kids came and offed w/ the dog...AC showed up and I told them to make sure I got my leash back. The dog did not reappear. Funny how some people think the world is all about them...
Well, guess what? I just came back from the grocery store and guess who is outside off leash running around, barking when I pulled into the driveway, and to top that off the whole family is out there staring me down. If they chase Ariel again tomorrow I will call ac right back.
It makes me so angry, you would think they would at least care if their dogs got ran over, we live on a pretty busy street.
If I thought it would do any good I would try to talk to them, but they don't speak English except for the young kids, who I wouldn't want to involve, and I don't speak Spanish.
What a mess Gina. Standing up for your rights regarding a dog and neighbors, is as bad as kids and neighbors. One good thing though, if they are being mean to you, you won't understand what they are saying.
there are 3, sometimes 4 dogs running loose down the street, they don't come onto our property, they usually stay around the houses near theirs. My mom saw Oscar (lab/pit mix) in the road today. Just playing around. one of these 4 dogs will be the ones to pay. the owners of oscar had a dog that got hit not too long ago, and died, then now they let oscar run loose, and he's not even fixed, and he's probably not even a 2 years old yet. My friend Emily's schnauzer died 5 years ago, and then they let Daisy (golden) and she was hit in September. Ugh, it disgust me.
