Here is the story I woke up to - literally in my backyard.
Alexandria, Va. (AP) - A strange series of events have unfolded in Alexandria overnight.
Alexandria police say three men posing as federal law enforcement officers broke into a home on Argyle Drive and abducted a man.
A short time later, police got a call of an assault taking place at the Watergate at Landmark Apartments. Once they arrived, they found the victim being beaten by the suspects. Police rescued the man and arrested one suspect. At the site, they found a grave had been dug, big enough for a body.
Officer David Ray says they then tracked another suspect to his home at the Watergate apartments. There they found weapons, and false police identification among other things.
The third suspect has reportedly been cornered by police and should be arrested at any time.
Police are not giving many details about the motive, other than to say the abduction has something to do with a civil case due to be heard in court Thursday.
I live in the Watergate complex and the grave they found was at my building's pet walking area where I take Duncan every day.
