Hi guys, I'm new here and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a 19 year old female and live in Colleyville, TX. I have a 7 year old Affenpinscher Mix named Alice. Today she was outside in her dog house, and I couldn't get her out. I had to put a leash on her and literally drag her out. Do any of you know why Alice would behave this way?
Considering how small the affen is, and they can be high strung, many factors could cause her to be frightened. Toys do not do well without supervision outside, escpally in cooler weather. Birds of prey are actually a problem many people never thinka bout.
Stray dogs, stray cats, even some more agressive mammels might frighten her. Raccons can easily kill her if they wish to access her water dish and if she was beign fiesty about it.
Also, strange people may have come up to her and harassed her for all you know. There are lots of reasons. A backfireing car, a plane overhead, someone setting off fireworks... the list goes on.
Hello. I am 28 yrs old. I live in ATlanta GA and I have 2 pit bulls, Missy and Manson. Two adopted pit bulls-- this I say purely for your benefit, Kirbi.
I don't know why Alice wouldn't come out, unless maybe she was frightened by something. We had a yorkie that would act nasty if you tried to pull him out from under the couch. Mine only go out with me to potty or to play and exercise, or on a chain for 10 minutes or so for a potty break.

Hello Kirbi! Welcome to the forum. From one toy dog owner to another, please don't leave your baby outside unattended. It is true about owls, eagles, hawks or other varmits(Fox, coyotes, etc.) getting your baby. It happened to someone I know. Even a dog house can't protect them against a fox or coyote. I am not familiar with your type of dog. Can you post a picture? I just saw that someone said it was a "toy" on a previous post. How much does she weigh? Maybe something frightened her.

Hello Kirby, It doesn't seem right for me to welcome you since I just became a member less than 5 minutes ago, but welcome anyway. My name is Megan. I am thirteen. I just got a 9 week old terrier mix from the Dinwiddie pound for an early Christmas present. He is my baby, but can be right vicious. He is sleeping on my lap at this very moment.
Don't have any advice about your dog, but I don't leave mine outside. I don't think it is a good idea. It is too cold for his little body. Plus our 1 year old black lab's palm size paws could crush him. Good luck!
