Hello, Your dog should be due in about 1-2 weeks. Yes you can feel them inside her, but I do not sugest you try. There is a specific technique you use, and if you do it wrong then you cna hurt the puppies and your dog. Let me know when the babies arrive! I can't wait to here from you. Love, SaraN
lisa & glenn please take your dog to the vet and have her x-rayed. this will tell you how many puppies are inside her and how many you should expect on delivery day. many people don't have any idea how many pups to expect and it sometimes can take 1-2 hours inbetween deliveries. it would be nice to know as it is happening if she was done delivering or still had more to come. it will also let you know if she is in crisis during her pregnancy. if they go too long w/o delivering a pup they can go into uterine inertia and die.
I think it depends on the breed...weight...litter size etc. but you should be able to feel them soon. My Cairn had puppies yesterday, and I felt them moving for the last 7 or 8 days. She was in labor 22 hours....with 4 hours between most pups. All whelpings are different. I don't have females x-rayed, but I do take them to the vet within 12 hours after for a check. They can usually tell by feeling if there are any retained pups or placenta. Try to count placenta...make sure one passes for each pup. If not, or if your not sure, take her to your vet when she's done. Good luck ! It's always so exciting !
When my toy poodle was pregnant, it was maybe 2 weeks before she concieved that I could feel and see the babies moving. Considering her size, I didn't think there were more than 3 in there. She would roll over and let me lay my hands lightly on her tummy and I could feel them move and kick. I knew I felt 3 for sure. When teh day came, she had to have a c-section and we became proud grandparents of 5 little schnoodles.
