After some browsing and thinking, I've decided to get a puppy from this kennel : newdesignskennel.com and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this kennel. If so, can you tell me about your experience?
I will be a new owner but I have done my research and am fully prepared to accept the responsibilities of a puppy. However, I'm thoroughly confused of where to purchase a puppy, especially since it's over the internet.
You might want to check with vets in your area to see who they recommend for the breed of dog you are looking for. They know who takes care of their animals and usually don't recommend the puppy mill style kennels.
I would trust the vets word, over some dog I found on the internet.
Check the dog shelters and humane societys, too, there are beautiful dogs being euthanized daily in shelters.
Our local shelter just offered a gorgeous purebred female sheltie dog for adoption. So you can find gems in shelters, too.
Here is one guide to puppy-buying over the internet.
Do they have the parents photos on their site?
Do the parents look the way you want your puppy to look after it is all grown up?
If the answer to either of these questions is "No" then do not purchase a puppy. They are all cute when they are babies, but they ALL grow up to look like Mum and Dad.
Your best bet is to find someone close; you will save the shipping charges and be able to meet the puppy in person, as well as a parent (at least one of the parents). They grow up to act like their parents, too.
This is not a good kennel....keep searching. They have practically no information about their operation, they're breeding multiple breeds and their contract is very weak and without spay or neuter contract. This could be a puppymill.
Be careful Cochon (sorry if I spelled that wrong)- since they gave a specific kennel you want to be very careful saying outright how you may feel; you could find yourself sued for slander or something.
