Hi I'm new to this forum. I have a chubby "over-sized" pomeranian. (from head to base of tail is 18 inches, height from feet to shoulder is 13 inches) I'm thinking of getting him a kong but is wondering which size to get him... the smallest one or the medium one? I heard that the kong has to be stuffed totally/mostly to get him occupied longer, but I don't want to give him too much treats (don't want him to get much more chubbier) and thus changed my mind to get the smaller size. HOWEVER, I also heard that the dogs will have a hard time getting the food out if the kong's opening is small and thus it will loose interest. Should the opening be as big as its mouth or is it ok for it to be just big enough for the dog to put its tongue inside? Has anyone encountered this problem and do you guys usually stuff the whole kong even though there is a possibility of getting the dog fatter by doing so? Thanks.
you could use the medium one, and if you are worried about treats and the weight you can always put in cottage cheese, mini carrots(cut up) and some yogurt, then freeze it. they really like this and it does keep them busy for a while. my cocker uses a large one, and my shihtzu uses the medium one. you can also buy a spray treat(like cheese whiz) in a can comes in flavors and put in there also
First of all welcome to the forum. I just got my puppy a kong this weekend, and have to try different thing to stuff it with to find out what will work the best for her. If you go to KONGS website there is all the information you are looking for, including receipes for a kong. www.kongcompany.com/
My miniature pinscher uses the medium, even though she is 9lbs, but she loves the peanut butter in there... My english bulldog uses the medium sized one as well, but he just likes to chew on it, he doesn't really care for the food inside it.
Well i used the kong for the first time this evening, filling it with peanut butter, cottage cheese, frozen green beans, and bannana, and then freezing it. Let me tell you it kept her occupied for about 35 minutes, and she loved it. What a great invention!!!!!!!!!!
I actually asked this question recently. Here is what I found out. http://www.terrificpets.com/forum/806.asp http://www.kongcompany.com/how2use1.html HTH P.S. I ended up buying the T3 (small) and it a perfect size
It needs exercise cough up! Have to control diet. You can give it to buy some bit of toys, plush toys, for example, can control diet, can also exercise. Take a look at toyswill, very good. My neighbor often buys toys for their teddy
