A few days ago I mentioned Max had a place on his forearm about the size of a pea. It worried me because we have had one taken off about 4yrs.ago. When they are dark like that I worry about cancer. Well, this afternoon he kept licking his leg. I thought he might just have a matt because his hair covers that place. Then, I noticed he had licked it where it look almost like a cut. When I looked closer that thing had fell off. It left alittle hole and I put some peroxide on it, but thank goodness because all the money we have been out lately that just saved about 200.00. Hooray!!!!
We have never had ticks. The only ticks I have seen you could pull out with tweezers. This was just like (I think) what we had took off him. This was like smooth down in the skin all the way around, thats why I was surprised it was gone all of a sudden. Now, y'all are scaring me, I'm thinking I have this horrible thing crawling aroung somewhere. UKKKKKKK. We have an appointment Monday but I think I will take him in tomorrow and let her look at it and see what she thinks. If thats what it turns out to be I have never seen anything like that. I have seen ticks when they were full, but you could always get a hold of them to get them out.
LOL! I'm sorry, but I though cricketmom said to be sure to get out of the house! I'm with scout, ticks are nasty in more ways than one, I cannot tolerate them at all. Plus they can take so many different forms, especially if they are old and bloated. Anyway, glad to hear that your Max is doing good and you avoided another vet bill. =)
If this could have been a cyst, or even if it was a tick wouldn't there be some blood somewhere. I know when you pull ticks off they bleed. I have looked on the other two and there is no sign of anything. Like I said we don't have fleas and ticks. Could it have come from a dog in the yard next door? I hope this is just a isolated incident. Scout, if a cyst ruputures doesn't bleed? It looks like a dark spot in the middle of the place. Its round and looks swollen all around it. I bathed him in a real good shampoo I have for them and I am going to take him in tomorrow.
when ticks fall off they leave a little tiny hole, that scabs over and the area around where the tick was attached is usually swollen and red like a mosquito bite is. i am talking about a small area of swelling and redness not like the whole leg or anything.
sebaceous cysts that rupture can be a little bloody but it is more thick goo ooze that comes out and then the cyst disappears. not always though. some cysts that rupture do it slowly and you notice a large amount of black gunk around it for awhile, like crusty's.
my best guess from your description is that it was a tick.

Well, I feel about as stupid as heck. I have never seen a tick that embedded. Like I said we do not have fleas and I could count on one hand the ticks I have seen. They are usually small and can be pulled out easily. If that was a tick I have searched this house over, shook their beds out and everything. My hubby said he could have pulled it off outside. I am going to the vet in about 30min. so we will find out. Boy, how stupid can you get thinking it was a schnauzer bump. It should have told me something when it started getting bigger. DUH!!!!!!!!!
