So there I was, sitting home with my pup when I got a surprise visit from my *very religious* in-laws. They brought a barrage of kids with them including 2 of their own. The kids aged in range from oh, about 13 to 15.
So the dog is sitting there and everyone is ooo and ahhh over him. Then he starts to lick his *area* like all dogs do.
The little girl says: Well, he sure likes that doesn't he?
And stupid me, leave it to me to say *exactly* what I'm thinking at any given time, I say:
Sure who wouldn't... wouldn't you if you could?
A dull silence came over the group, followed by a rather quick exit.
At least they liked the dog.

Oh man. Talk about speaking before you think! My kids never fail to point out when Manson is "licking his big red rocket," (that's how they say it) and I just tell them that is just something dogs do, and that they can't clean with a washrag.
shig, Im with you on this one all the way....I have put my foot in my mouth quite a few times with my very near future in-laws. They are not religeous or anything....but lets say they dont share my taste for humor. so as previously sated....relax.....no biggie
as to the religious comment some just take it to an extreme, that is why i have not raised my kids in a "religion" but have raised them to be faithful and to believe in the higher being (GOD) and i too believe he has a sense of humor..... maybe these ultra rigid people are in for a BIG surprise when they see the pearly gates, for all we know it could be APRIL FOOLS DAY everyday of the year there :)
Yeah so.. definetely a funny moment, and very embarrassing.
Not to get too far into religion, as it is a touchy subject and many people's ideas vary, but I will tell you this. They don't have that kind of sense of humor. They do have a sense of humor, just not for that kind of stuff.
Now me, I'm completely opposite, as many of you know, I can laugh at just about anything. I also had only been to church once maybe twice in my life, and that's been a major barrier in our relationship. Not that I haven't tried since I married my hubby, but it is just not my "thang" -
I've got my own sort of belief system, but unfortunetely it doesn't pass their test, so that little comment definetely didn't help things any, talk about feeling silly.
that is so funny ! i have been known to blurt things out myself. i went with a friend to her boyfriends family get together. these people had a huge house and it was full of people. after mingling ,we sat on the sofa and a huge bull mastiff was making intro's to everyone so i pet him for awhile . he then moved over to my friend and planted his nose right in her crotch ! and when she tried to push his head away , he growled ! so me ,not really knowing too many people there, hollered out "can someone get this dog out of S***y's crotch ! the room got silent and someone ,i guessed it was the owner, came and removed his dog .we quickly left, but not before the laughter erupted. she yelled at me on the way to the car " couldnt you have just quietly went and got someone ! my god you got a big mouth ! it ended with her in tears, her boyfriend trying to console her ,and me on the other side of the car with tears rolling down my face from laughing so hard ! lol
