I adopted a daschound mix(maybe beagle) 1 month ago. She was from a dog horder who had 47 other dogs. She is 3 yrs.She is a wonderful dog,she has her accidents but who dont..
The problem I am really having is she is great with me and my 2 daughter 12 and 6. But my husband and son 15, is who she continually barks at they cant even come in the room or house with out her having a fit,she runs and hides and still barks and growls(she has never tried to bite any of us). We tried to have the men do the treats only and feed her. my son even takes her in his room to be with her and he can hold herwhen he catches her, but the first chance she gets she runs and barks.
we all love her and want to help her learn the guys here are ok. can someone give me some help please. She seems so scared.. We wont return her to shelter we love her, we want to help her.
Hmm..tough one. I wouldn't force the issue on her. Don't make her stay in the room with males. She was probably abused by one. Let her come to them. Have them hold the treats and if she wants to come up to them and get it, that's great. Praise her, pet her if she lets it, but don't force it. Take baby steps. If she doesn't want to come to them to get the treat, tell her it is ok, but never force her.
thank you, we are trying are best with her. right now she has been in my sons room with him sleeping for over 2 hours but i know when i open the door for the night she will be right out. Maybe in time things will get better.. she is such a great dog for all that she has been threw.. at least she is not violent. which is a relief.
I let her in the room with him only because she wasnt crying to come out, she is accually o his bed right by him. I hope this will lead to a break threw in time.

Poor baby, thank God she has new owners like you have that have so much patience, love, and understanding. I am sure she will come out of her shell adventually, just give her time. Lots and lots of love. treat her like a queen :)
Thank you for the complimaent.. I better get to sleep, there a lighting storm on its way here any ways. I will keep you posted. I let her out of his room told her how good she was etc... Thank you again
