I have been searching and searching for a cottage or small house to rent for a week in august where we can bring our babies (the dogs of cousre) and i cant find ANYTHING. Its so frustrating :( I'm half writing this just to whine, but also wondering if anyone knew of any websites that listed vacation rentals that permit dogs or if they had any suggestions for the new england area that might have pet friendly locations?
Found this stuff on a popular book-selling website (That would be the one named after a large, jungle river). I typed in to search for "Travel with Pets".
Customers who searched for "travel with pets" expressed interest in: 1. thanks heff and hopesheltie--at this point Heff, I MAY go to TN LOL--seriously though--I did do some google searches and everythign I come up with that is pet friendly is SUPER expensive or its a inn/motel and I dont want that. I'm sure I'll find something. I was just so frustrated because I kept finding something that was perfect and then I see "no pets allowed". :) I guess I understand why people dont want pets in their rental homes.....but its still annoying!
thanks for letting me vent--and thanks for the advice!
I don't know if you want to travel to TN, but I live in Clarksville, TN. I heard from different people it depends on what breed of dog you have, if it is larger breed, they might not be willing to rent to you. The lady who they didn't rent too, had a blind Siberian Husky and a Rottweiler. She had a really hard time.
They are also talks in the news about dog bites, fights, banning and so on.
Do you or someone you know belong to AAA maybe in their travel books they might have some listings for pet friendly rentals. Write the Commerce of the the area you want to go to, the travel and visitors dept. I know the internet is faster but if that fails maybe these would work. They could be just a phone call away. Good luck. I have never taken our pets on vacation with us but I might try it with the one we have now. I can hardly bear to be away from him when I have to go to work. Cody is a sweet bichon frise/westie mix and just so loveable, it would be fun to take him along, he really enjoys going on short trips with us. Hope you find something to rent.
Thanks pyrmom, that was a great link! Those places seemed really nice--I have calls into a few of them and some of them actually seem afordable!!
great suggstion on contacting AAA or the towns directly. I know what you mean about not being able to part from your baby on vacay. We had to leave koda over christmas when we went to see my parents in AZ and I could barely function I was so sad!!!
