Just wondering if anyone had ever used a pet detective.Or heard of one . I had one call me .And he wanted 2000.00 plus expenses and he said he could find my dog with in 24 hours if it was still alive. He said that he had two tracking dogs a poodle and a jack russell terror . I just wondered if anyone had ever used pet detective before.
This was back in July when my dog was missing but I got my dog back . He got my number off of pet finders.com .The guy that had my dog was a weirdo but he lived not to far from here and the phone number of both showed up on caller id and one matched the local guy and the other matched the web site that is serveral states away from here. So I know it was not the same guy. I have seen other web sites of people saying that they are pet detectives one lady even wrote a book about it.
I've heard of something like this before... A group of people used blood hounds to find missing pets. It worked pretty well too, just as long as the pet had only just dissapeared (within the past one or two days I think it was).
I have seen pet detectives on animal planet, there really is such a thing, however I would be careful of ones contacting you. Some can be scams and take your puppy, call you and tell you they are a detective and then you pay all the money for him to return a dog he stole from you.
Not all are scams though, this lady on animal planet had a pointer dog of some kind and trained it to sniff something of the lost pet and the dog would take her all around the neighbor hood till after a couple days the pointer found the cat! The cool thing with using dogs is that dogs can get a smell from under a house or something, so if your cat is hiding under a house the dog can find him, where a person with no dog wouldnt know the cat was down there.
About once a week i look through lost dog ads and then i look through found ads and the pound website, i make about 1 match a week and i love reuniting the pet with their owner. I had entertained the thought of setting up my own pet detcive businesse when im older and train dogs to sniff out other animals. But im think im going to take the horse trainer route instead.
sydney you could problaly make good money finding peoples dogs . There are alot of large rewards posted . But I would go bankrupt cause I would feel sorry for people and just give them the dog back since I know how horrible it is to lose one. But you need to be careful there are lots of weirdos out there.
I have never heard of one outside of Ace Ventura. 2000.00 seems quite high! I agree with the others, I would stay away from someone who contacts me telling me they will find my dog for such a high amount. Good thing it all worked out for you.
