Ok, I am a new owner to the Pomeranian breed. I have had puppies and they have all lost their teeth with no problem. Mufasa is now 7 months old, and he has two "fang" teeth on each sides of his upper jaw. Is that normal or should I see if they come out or is it a concern I should take to my vet. As a horse and cat owner, I am used to calling my vet and am comfortable with them, but I don't want to spend money for them to just tell me that his teeth will fall out when they are ready. I know Pom's are popular for their bad teeth, but I'm still concerned. He's my baby after all. If any one has ANY advice or words of wisdom, please let me know. I'd appreciate it.
hey. i have a 10 month old pomeranian and he had the same thing only on his bottom teeth. his bottom "fang" teeth didnt fall out and his permanent teeth grew in so he had two sets of "fang" teeth on the bottom. i asked a friend who has had poms before and she said this is common (it happened to one of her pups). when we took Gus (my pom) to get neutered the vet just went ahead and pulled the teeth. it was no big deal at all. hopefully this helps and good luck with your puppy!
give it some time and by the time the pom is a year old if the teeth have not fallen, make an apt. to have them pulled. Very common...we called one of my white poms the "great white" because she had like two rows of teeth...It was funny looking.
Some dogs go through life never haveing those teeth removed. But saying that it can cause dental problems later in life. When you have the dog altered have the Vet remove the teeth while the dog is under aneasthetic
