Hi, I just got a Hound X puppy from an Animal Shelter in the area. She had her first round of vacines on October 3rd. It was discribed as a : DA2PPV.
I have to bring her back on October 26nd for a Rabies Vacination.
However, I have to get a booster shot myself done, and I am wondering what this is for? Is it more of the same? And do I only need one more done? I remember a ton of shots with younger puppies I had as a child.
When would be the best time for this? I called one vet and he told me it had to be done within 1 month, or we have to start over.
Anyone have some good tips for finding a good vet? What sort of questions should I be asking?
First puppies get shot around eight weeks such as DHP-P vaccination. QTY 1 Then around around three months DHP-P booster accination QTY 1 Then around five months they get three shots. They get Bordetta, Rabies, and DHPP. One of each. Then around eight months they should get a parvo booster. I know great vets in houston texas and austin. You need to talk to vet clinic and see how long they have a vet for. If they are very busy, ect. Hope this helps. These are all the shots you need, after the eight month mark you don't need shots again for about a year.
Hi, thanks for the prompt reply, however this puppy is not on a typical plan, to the best of everyones knowledge she has only recieved one set of vacinations, at 4-5 months of age. She was found stray, and the animal control gave her one set of shots, and will be giving Rabies in 2 weeks.
If anyone is familiar with vacination scheduals for dogs that are started later, like 4-5 months, I would really like to hear your input.
