I work at an animal hospital, yesterday while one of the girls was on her break she found a lost dog wandering the streets. She brought him back to work so he wouldnt get hurt. He is so cute a Chi/Jack Russel mix, tri color, nuetered male. He was so scared and he seemed to like me, he would hide in my arms, and wag his tail when i came near. Anyways we scanned him for a microchip and he had one. Turns out the dog is a client of ours, the owners got him from the pound in June and he got neutered at our office. So we called the owners and left a message.
I left work early so I never found out what happened, but this morning I was looking online at the pounds website and I saw him on there! I was soooo sad. Either the owners didnt call back and the pound picked him up or the owners took him there. Either way I feel so bad for this little guy.
He is pretty cute so I can see him being adopted quick but im so scared he wont be and he will be put to sleep. I have an urge to go bail him out and find him a foster or a new forver home. Im just a little nervous bringing a strange dog home, since i already have 4. He seems really sweet but I dont know anything about him. The last foster i brought hom was a big really hairy dog who i kept in my screened in covered patio, i cant do that with this guy cause he is so little and is short haired so if I brought him home he would be inside with my dogs.
So i dont know what to do, do I bail him out and try to find him a home, or do i let him stay at the pound and hope he gets adopted? What would you guys do?
Tell the pound your predicament. Tell them when his time is up and he is still in the pound that you will take him. Print out his information and picture from the website and post it at the vets. He should get adopted soon because he is a small dog and they do not last long at the pound.
Where do you work?Cause we just had a dog brought in because it was left tied to a bicycle rack (on purpose)Anyways the dog was a chihXJRT.It was a male too.Very cute and friendly. And the pound had to pick him up caus ethe owner didn't return our calls.
I work at Porter Pet Hospital in the Valley in Southern California.
I found out he is gonna be held for 10 days since he has a microchip, unless I can get a hold of the owners and they say they dont want him, then i would have them call the pound and allow them to release the dog to me.
I'll check in 10 days and if he hasnt been adopted I will bail him out. Poor little guy.
