oh my gosh pepper my 14 week old basset whines constantly.......she has a dry skin problem that we spray hexacaine on her for.......she cries when scratching and i stop her if i see her......she whines ALOT when she isn't scratching either...i have had many puppies, and they have never whined like this......sheconstantly whines if bambino my other basset isn't here.....sometimes it gets so annoying and i dunno what to do.......any ideas why she whines.?
I would just let her whine. I would take bambino and you away from her. she will scream and it will get worse (it is called an extiction burst, this where most people crumble) you have to stay strong and just let her whine and when she is quite let her ouf the crate and let bambino in to see her. She will learn quick quite gets her what she wants.
no, i was assuming the dog was already confined. the crate is not punishment. Anyway the point is. no attention when the crying is going on. and that is for anxiety crying. if the dog is in pain. go to the vet again. the dog needs some serious medical attention.
i am gonna call the vet tomorrow again...i have used that medicine before it doesn't work on her in the slightiest its kinda making me concerned..i am wondering if she has a skin disorder or can dogs even have thme
plus have the time she cries when not scratchin is bc i am not giving her enough attention
well i have used benedry and it knocked her out i use it when she had a staff infection.....maybe i should give it a try again

As far as using bendryl for itching, it takes quite some time to see results. You have to use it religiously and be patient for results. I have been told that it is not uncommon to see itchy puppies. Said that puppies grow so fast that there skin can sometimes suffer. I don't know how true this is, just thought I'd mention it.
