There was this big beautiful dog always in town, so loveable.. we always called her "Tex, the Gentle Giant". I'm not even sure what mix she was. She was big and white, about 100lbs.. but, her coat was like a lab, not fluffy. She was owned by a man here in town who purchased her merely for keeping his 100+ goats entertained.
Keep in mind, people. I live in a town of 400.. or a little over. I spent many days/evenings playing with this dog.. feeding her what I could find in my fridge, because she was SO emaciated. Alot of her bones were visable, but I did what I could. Almost every night at aroung 6pm Texican would show up at my door, scratching. Out I would come with the tweezers, to pick off the ticks and fleas that I could manage before it got dark. I'd feed her what I could find that would satisfy a big dog. Usually a loaf of bread soaked in a gallon of milk.. I always had that, and she was greatful.
This mans name is Gary Peterson, her so called "owner". He lives in Arcadia, Kansas.. I visit my dad weekly in another town, I came home Sunday, and I was looking for my Texican... but, she never showed. I went on my evening business. Helped my little sister with her homework, showered and got my sister ready for bed. Around 10 o'clock I got a disturbing and disgusting phone call from my best friend..
Two days prior, my dog.. my gentle giant.. was found shot with a shotgun in the side, and HUNG UP IN A TREE. This man, Gary Peterson.. admitted to doing it. His reasoning? "HE had too many complaints about the dog around town.". If he would have fed her, maybe she wouldn't have tore out peoples trash. No human with a viable soul could do that to ANY animal... let alone big Tex, she was so gentle.
What kind of punishment did good ol' Gary recieve, you ask? Not even a slap on the wrist. No fine... no jailtime... nothing. The cops were called, and Tex was removed from the tree.. and that was the end of it. It's like nobody cares.. what is the world coming to? This makes me sick, and it's eating at me.. i'm sure it will you guys, too. I had to talk to somebody about it.
that is too horrible to even imagine. my dad once told me that god put the animals here to be companions to man. they are his creatures. he entrusted them to our care. when people do harm like that to them, their punishment in hell will be far greater than anything that will be done to them here on earth.

That is awful!! I hate hearing things like that.... if that man didn't want the dog anymore, he didn't have to get rid of it like that. He's just cruel. I'd love to give him a taste of his own medicine but I know he will get his without my help. Karma is something else.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Poor doggie. :(
