I have to dogs. One is a year and 3 months the other is 7 months.
A lot of this is our fault but they are chewing up our house and furniture and its so aggravating. When Rocky was a baby (rocky is the 7th month old) he was kept in our little apartment kitchen and gated but he soon figured out how to escape. So we never really kept him in the kitchen again. So basically now, since im getting fed up, i need to know if leaving a dog crated for 10 hours cruel. We need a solution to a problem quick.
Today i tried gating them in again and of course Rocky escaped. Help!!!!!
I think keeping a dog locked up for ten hours straight is cruel. Would you like to be locked up for ten hours of your day? I don't think so. Give them all the toys and bones (vet approved) that they could ever want or need. You should also try putting red, hot, spicy, pepper on whatever they chew on. Post back to let me know how things work out.
i crate most of mine...and they go 8 hours some times at night no problem.( i say some times cuz we dont usualy get a full 8 hours of sleep) ..why cant they go 10 on occassion..sure..it takes some getting used to..but much better then a wrecked house..getting frustrasted and sending them off to the pound..
I have an x-pen that has a lid and it's very solid, I use it for my naughty foster dogs!!!! I haven't had a break out yet.
If they are going to crate at least get one large enough that if they make a mistake they can have another place to lie down. My MinPins are in crates that are big enough for a lab (they are only in them for half a day). This gives them room to burrow and be cozy.
