I am just starting out a breeding program with siberian huskies. I just had my first litter on the 9th. There were four pups and they all had scabs on their back feet within the first day of birth. I was wondering if it could be from them "nuzzling" to get to the teat or if the mother stepped on their feet. Has anyone else had this problem They are starting to heal, but some of them were so bad, I thought the pup would loose it's toe. HELP!
Could it possibly be ringworm? I just read on my holistic group that a Siberian Husky puppies were all born with scab on their feet (toes) that would not heal. It was finally determined to be ringworm. Worth checking into anyway.
crestimom- you wouldn't happen to have a link to the group page about this topic would you? The scabs are healing and I am not too concerned anymore because they look really great. But I am curious about that topic and want to compare my puppies to this other case you are talking about. Thanks Scenicvalesiberians
It's the holistic dog group on yahoogroups.com. I'm not sure if you can read the messages at their site without being a member or not, or if they even archive their messages. I'll go thru my emails tonite to see if I still have it.
