cooldot, that video hit me so hard too. the screaming is hard to get out of your head. annie, my frenchie was cocking her head back and forth , watching and listening. when it was over she looked at me with the saddest look on her face. i had to love my babies afterward and reassure them that they will never have to go through anything like that and i will protect them always, with my life.
yes...heart wrenching video..sadly it happens lots of places...not long ago in my own county...I moved here in 1995...with in a year or so I offered to help an older german lady by the name of gertrude m...cant spell her name...any way...she discovered because she found a sray and wanted it to be found by the owner...took it to the pound...well...after weeks of trying to catch them availablre...and many other things...she volunteered there since they were a one man operation..well she found out many things..they euthanised them by knocking them in the head with a brick..stuffing them into a 50 gal drum..and gassing..some end up making it..only to crawl out..then had to go through it all over again.. She rallied for shelter volunteers...and many came. she paid with her own money 4 other volunteers to be euthenasia techs,,and that was the begining of her finding things out...spliting off to eventually form a licencd hemane socirty and even paid cash for a building before ill health made her step down as director...she stoped...or made public and hopefully stoped the sale every thursday to class b dealers...she rallied and fund raised her self and the cause every waking chance she got...and many homeless abused neglected or hurt pets got what they needed,,.many did have to be humaney put down..at times its not avoidable...she did a great service to our county and its animals...and only one small 8 inch plaque bears her name..and many dont even know any thing about her...how she was relentless in the newspaper...at community meetings...every county function rain or shine...she sat and explained her passion some times earning donations...some times volunteers...but always with the animals best intrest in mind...I did the correspondance, flyers and the like...I began fostering with her as I had so many years under my belt...and when she vacationed and took summers off I maned the helm..She wanted me to be the director of what would end up the shelter...but i think i never really believed it to be a reality...and one day she brought before the members a vote to purchase a building..i was involved intil controversy prompted me to stop involvment..when the board started to oust her the founder from her humane society what she put her blood sweat, tears...not to mention her own money, time and effort...well..that was enough for me......but..i mention this as not too long ago we too were back wards abd gassed in a drum..but now we have 2 full time officers and a part time..and mqny community agencies ( mentql heqalth and schools) come to socialise the dogs and excercise and clean up after them..not perfect..oh far from it..but..just a story how one lil old lady changed the fact of animals for ever in our county...it can be done..she used to always say..she was the voice of the voiceless...i believed her 100%
